It's Christmas Eve Eve Eve!

As you may remember from this post, I'm a sucker for good advertising. I think it was the Christmas of 1989 when I had to have a Roller Racer. My childhood bff's Meredith, Marta, and pesky little sister Rachel were Roller Racer crazy as well.

Somehow none of us caught the part of the commercial that said the Roller Racer was ideal for patios, playrooms, and basements. Instead, we tried to use them for long distance travel. Christmas day we were so excited to go around the block for the first time on our Roller Racers. The mission was aborted when it took five minutes to get from one mailbox to the next.

What did you beg Santa for in the 80's? Please share!

  2. The biggest hit for us was when Santa brought the Atari 5200 (maybe 1979 or 1980?). Not the 2600 that everyone had.. this was a step up. And, we didn't think we got it until every present was unwrapped, and Dad said, "Wait! What's this over here under this blanket?..." Of course, jumping and screeching ensued.

Oh, and I'm a generation older, so I don't remember the roller racer all that well, but I do remember the Big Wheel, and the Green Machine! Does anyone remember those? Maybe I can find a video clip of that somewhere, but I don't know if video had been invented back then.

  4. I remember wanting a carebear. I got one, but it was one of small figurines, not the teddy bear kind.

  5. OH. MY. GOODNESS. This is hilarious! Could any of our hair look worse? :) Oh, the good old days.

  6. That was my thought exactly! Rachel must have been the only one still letting their mom do their hair. The rest of us were hopeless!

  7. Cass, how sad about your care bear. I had like four, not to brag. You know I would have shared them with you too.

and I will leave you with a quote from Dave Morris when I showed this picture to him, "That's a pretty handsome haircut, Mere."

  8. One more thing, Rachel's hair may be "cute" compared to the rest of ours, but she has yellow bows glued all over her shirt, which I am pretty sure makes it even.

  9. Haha! I'm going to a tacky xmas-sweater theme party tomorrow. I don't have a tacky sweater, but when I saw Rachel's sweatshirt I thought "ooh, I could make one of those..."

Yeah Cass, Santa must have been mad at you that year. Gina and I had the whole tribe of Care Bears!

  11. In the early 80's I was really into aerobics, I begged santa for a lot of kid sized aerobics gear (leotards and legwarmers mostly)... I was like 5 or 6 maybe?

PS- nice acid washed jeans Joy ;)
