Going country. For real.

Swiss chard, green beans, and tomatoes are sprouting.  Turns out seeds really do work.

And, the chicks are here!

Nine of them.

I'm like the octomom of poultry.  Plus 1.

Why so many?

According to African proverb, according to Mike,
you're really not supposed to count your chickens
for two weeks after they've hatched.

  1. funny chicken story. when Lisa and Kim were about 6 and 7. We got them pink and green chickens for Easter. Well after some time, Lisa dropped hers which of course caused it to croak, not like a frog but like DEAD. So we buried it in the backyard. She was so curious about what it, she kept digging it up every few days to watch it decompose. Then in about a month we were to be moving from Arlington to CA. she asked if we could dig it up and take it with us. I thought for a moment, then realized I probably should say no.

  2. Haha! I can see Lisa doing that! If only she had already developed her photography talent back then...

  3. So, I go and get sick for 3 short months, and miss the post where you actually get chickens. I can't wait to meet them. And I still wish I could introduce Olive to them too! :)
